An accurate definition of queuing system parameters using probability density distributions : the initial research
(University of New Brunswick, 1991) Lebel, Claude P.; H., Meng
The results of a project aimed at proving that probability density distributions are required to accurately define the queuing pattern of a forest trucking operation are presented. A queuing model was produced and several simulations were performed with this model, using different probability density distributions for differences between truck arrivals and unloading times. The results showed that a change in the distributions will produce a significant change in the truck waiting time and the loader idle time; therefore, effecting the total Woodlands department's cost. A research project aimed at estimating the exact distributions of truck arrivals and unloading times is proposed. KEYWORDS: Queuing, Loader Idle Time, Model, Probability density distributions, Simulations, Waiting time, Woodlands department's cost.
