Geotechnical characteristics of wood chips and hay used in an induced trench
McQueen, C. (2000). Geotechnical characteristics of wood chips and hay used in an induced trench.
Abstract
The geotechnical characteristics of compressible materials such as wood shavings and hay, which are currently being used as fill in induced trenches, are not documented. Characteristics such as compressibility and internal angle of friction were determined through laboratory testing. Tests were performed on samples in both loose and compacted states. Results from the present study are compared with those determined for other suitable compressible materials.
