Bromine, chlorine, potassium and sodium content of the Sussex Potash deposit, Kings County, New Brunswick

Abstract

Twenty-six samples of core from two drill holes from the Sussex Potash occurrence, Kings County, New Brunswick, were analysed for bromine, chlorine, potassium and sodium. The overall low bromine content of these samples indicates that the potash minerals are of secondary origin and probably formed by solution and recrystallization by aqueous fluids. The upward increase of bromine concentration within individual zones suggests that the solutions responsible for this alteration moved upward through the deposit.
