A compact, low-cost ultrawideband pulse generator with variable pulse width was designed, simulated, built and tested in a series of BOTDA measurements, demonstrating sufficient specifications to drive any electro-optic modulator typically used in this application. Additionally, hardware and software was developed for a compact embedded computing platform capable of acquiring and processing BOTDA measurements. The complete design was then evaluated according to a number of performance metrics, including spatial resolution, frequency resolution, measurement time, and more.xvi, 76electronicenhttp://purl.org/coar/access_right/c_abf2Compact, low-cost pulse generator and embedded computing platform for distributed sensingmaster thesisColpitts, BruceElectrical Engineering
