Hall, Robert W.2023-06-072023-06-071990https://unbscholar.lib.unb.ca/handle/1882/33649In a study conducted by the author on the profitability of harvesting low grade hardwoods for the production of sawlogs, pulpwood and firewood on private woodlands in southeastern Ontario, it was concluded that harvesting was not profitable due to a poor market for pulpwood. Possibilities for market improvement are the establishment of a marketing board which would control the supply of pulpwood, construction of new pulp and paper mills in southeastern Ontario which would increase the demand for the existing wood resource and development of export markets to other countries which would also increase the demand for pulpwood.
