The construction industry is transforming through the adoption of digital technologies and building information modeling (BIM). BIM processes allow for enhanced productivity, accelerated schedules, and data-driven decision-making during construction projects. Although BIM has proven to offer various benefits, the adoption of these processes has been slow and inconsistent within the general contracting industry. This report presents a non-experimental case study approach to assess and analyze existing construction processes and BIM applications within a general contracting (GC) company. Through the case study, a framework for integrating BIM-based construction project planning and evaluation was developed that enables GCs to standardize the application of digital technologies while promoting more fluid data collection and analysis. The resulting framework enriches project planning activities through BIM models and data-based decision-making while maintaining familiar project planning workflows.
