To better understand the behaviour of wood as a building component, research has been performed i n v e s t i g a t i n g i t s mechanical p r o p e r t i e s . Further studies have been c a r r i e d out analyzing the behaviour of wood when subjected to loads. These studies provide i n s i g h t s which lead to improvements i n engineering designs. T h i s report i n v e s t i g a t e s the shear capacity of n a i l e d timber connections using plywood cover p l a t e s . In addition, the report presents a mathematical model to p r e d i c t the t h e o r e t i c a l load c a p a c i t y of such j o i n t s.
