Lighting design software like AGi32 is typically used in the scoping and design phases of constructing roadway facilities, however, an alternative purpose exists. AGi32 may be used by Collision Reconstructionists to evaluate illumination at road facilities where the light installation has been changed, reconfigured, or, repaired. To evaluate AGi32 for this purpose, this study sought to evaluate the performance of three modeled environments in AGi32, versus corresponding field measurements collected under a single High Intensity Discharge (HID) luminaire, an out of service luminaire, and a converted Light-Emitting Diode (LED) luminaire. The results of this study concluded that no statistically significant differences existed in any of the tested scenarios between field observations and modelled observations. Furthermore, in consideration of all three scenarios, AGi32 overpredicted field measurements by an average of 0.61 lux (combined average of all three scenarios), with a corresponding average standard deviation of 3.05 lux.
