Abstract

This report studies the effects of chemical conditioners on dewatering sludge through geotextiles. An optimum chemical conditioning dosage is determined for the sludge at the Fredericton Area Water Pollution Control Commission Wastewater Treatment Plant (Frederiction W.W.T.P.). A model is developed for predicting the solids content in a sludge-cake after dewatering. Finally, the results obtained from this study are applied to a design example to investigate their applicability to a small to medium sized municipality in dewatering sludge.
