A dynamic simulation model, WOSFOP (Wood Supply and Forest Productivity), presently being used in determining sustainable annual allowable cut (AAC) in New Brunswick, is described. This model has been applied to Management Unit 14, on the west coast of Newfoundland, using data obtained from the new forest management inventory. The most probable AAC for management unit 14 is 420,000 cubic metres, if the total productive forest area is considered economically accessible. The implications of the use of WOSFOP for forest management decision making in Newfoundland are discussed.
