Abstract

The dynamic p i l e a n a l y z e r was developed i n t h e 1960*8, b ut o ^ l y r e c e n t l y has i t been used c o m m e r c i a l l y around A t l a n t i c Canada. The p i l e analyzer g i v e s on s i t e data of t h e u l t i m a t e b e a r i ng c a p a c i t y o f a p i l e d u r i n g i n s t a l l a t i o n as w e l l as d r i v i n g data t h at a l l o w s an engineer t o s e t r e f u s a l c r i t e r i a. The purpose o f t h i s r e p o r t i s t o i n t r o d u c e t h e dynamic p i le a n a l y z e r as a u s e f u l and economic method f o r t h e m o n i t o r i n g o f p i l e d r i v i n g and e s t i m a t i n g s t a t i c b e a r i n g c a p a c i t i e s o f p i l e s . The r e p o r t w i l l i n v o l v e an e x p l a n a t i o n of t h e t h e o r y on which t he a n a l y z e r i s based upon, a comparison t o t r a d i t i o n a l p i l e d r i v i ng a n a l y s i s methods, a case study d e t a i l i n g the a p p l i c a t i o n of t he a n a l y z e r , and t h e l i m i t a t i o n s and b e n e f i t s o f t h e p i l e a n a l y z e r.
