Highway construction activities pose a large threat to impacts on the environment, and receive much scrutiny as they are seen everyday. For this report, the construction phase of the Fredericton-Moncton Highway Project was used as a case study. The various environmental protection procedures used on this highway project were identified. It was estimated that the total cost for this environmental protection was approximately 1 percent of the total project bid of $ 584.4 million. This total estimate may not be applicable for every future highway project as the terrain may be different.
