Abstract
Velpar is a chemical that is very important to the Wild Blueberry Industry in New
Brunswick. It is used for weed control and has allowed for the use of modern fanning equipment
Some are concerned that it is contaminating ground water in the regions of it use. The loss of its
use would be devastating to the industry.
This report deals with the determination of the hydrogeological links at a test site. The site
has been set up to monitor occurrence of Velpar in the ground water. The hydrogeological links
will be used to understand the contaminant migration at this site. The end result of the entire study
is to develop a best management plan for the spraying of Velpar, so that the growers can continue
to use it without causing ground water contamination.
