Abstract

This report compares asphalt concrete and Portland Cement concrete as surfacing materials for runways and taxiways for three different classifications of airports. The comparison is based primarily on a cost analysis. The designs are considered for the Fredericton area in the Province of New Brunswick. Three different design methods were used and these take into consideration various aspects of the pavement design including subgrade soils, environment, and air traffic characteristics.
