dc.description.abstract | Shear b u c k l i n g of* web p l a t e s i s an important. issue in designing p l a t e g i r d e r s . The Canadian S t e e l Code CS16.1-M84) s t a t e s the l i m i t on end panel s i z e in c o n s i d e r a t i o n or a shear buckling equation. The shear buckling c o e f f i c i e nt i s an important part of t h i s equation which i s r e l a t ed d i r e c t l y to t h e a s p e c t r a t i o. A t o t a l of f o u r r e c t a n g u l a r p l a t e s were t e s t e d in two groups with d i f f e r e n t aspect ratios. Shear buckling c o e f f i c i e n t s were determined e m p i r i c a l l y and and compared with t h e o r e t i c a l values. | |
