Abstract

The groundwater supply and quality is important to the health of the citizens of New Brunswick. An important part of ensuring sufficient water resources is finding and developing groundwater wells. The objective of this study is to design an aquifer test for a proposed future municipal well to be sited in the Kennebecasis River Valley, New Brunswick. Designing an aquifer test involves recommendations for the locations of the pumping and monitoring wells, the pumping rate and duration of testing. This was achieved by estimating the hydraulic properties of the aquifer using laboratory testing. AquiferWm32 was used to simulate the aquifer's response based on these hydraulic properties for a test duration of one to three days and pumping rates of 818 to 1190 mVday. Aquifer test recommendations are based on the simulated response.
