Abstract

This report and accompanying documents are the final report for the project of designing a recoil mitigation system for a 40 mm, medium velocity, grenade launcher for Colt Canada. This report was completed by group 10, for ME 4860 Senior Design, at the University of New Brunswick and details an introduction to the project, the specifications and requirements the client desires, the theory behind the project of recoil mitigation, and the design solution proposed. An overview of several design approaches which have been examined, analysis of these design approaches, and the breakdown of the selection process of the chosen design approach. Also included is a description of how the project has proceeded to date with updated calculations and results, as well as suggestions for the remainder of the project if continued in the coming years.
