Abstract

I'm sure most people would agree t h a t many s e c t i o n s o f t h e highway t h r o u g h o u t New Brunswick are i n p r e t t y rough c o n d i t i o n. Most, o f these s e c t i o n s are n o t designed t o c a r r y t h e i n c r e a s i n g 1 heavy loads and t r a f f i c volumes t h a t they aire b e i n g s u b j e c t e d t o The i n c r e a s i n g c o s t s and d e c r e a s i n g a v a i l a b i l i t y of good q u a l i t y road c o n s t r u c t i o n m a t e r i a l s have made s y n t h e t i c g r i d s a v i a b l e a l t e r n a t i v e f o r t h e c o n s t r u c t i o n o f new roads and t h e r e h a b i l i t a t i o n of o l d ones, A r e v i e w of t h e r e s u l t s of 1 aboratory and f i e l d experiments i n v o l v i n g GlasGi\id pavement r e i n f o r c e m e n t mesh and Tensar geogrids was performed, and t h e economic and performance b e n e f it p o s s i b l e from using these grids were analyzed.
