This thesis examines continuity and change in the Royal Canadian Legion from 1926 to the present through the case study of the services delivered and received primarily in New Brunswick. Drawing from available official Legion histories, veteran health research, Provincial and Dominion Convention Reports, as well as interviews with nine Legionnaires and veterans and an online survey it explores how the Legion has evolved from an organization solely dedicated to the cause of the veteran to one which also serves the general community and has become increasingly civilian in nature. The Legion continues to provide services which are necessary for many veterans and the community. It explores the services offered by the Legion from 1945 to present and how they are generally well received by the public, Legionnaires, and some veterans, but are less well received by younger veterans.
