The thesis asks why the Supreme Court in Ghana and Kenya successfully resolved their post-electoral disputes. The answer to this question is that the Supreme Court successfully resolved the post-electoral disputes because of two levels of discourse that resolved two related levels of disputes. The greater level of independence of the Supreme Court made it possible to serve as a forum for the first level of discourse between the presidential candidates. The Supreme Court also served as a mediator between the disputing candidates, which led to the resolution of the first level of dispute between the presidential candidates. This allowed the second level of discourse to take place. The second level of discourse took place between the party members and their presidential candidates, where the latter persuaded the former, through framing, to accept the decision or verdict of the Court on the dispute to allow peace to prevail.
