Abstract
This study investigates the presence of elastic sulphide fragments in the hanging wall of the Louvicourt deposit, northern New Brunswick.
Major and trace element analysis using scanning electron microscope and electron microprobe have documented the existence of concentric As-Sb-rich zones in pyrite found in the Louvicourt ore zone and in hanging wall elastic sulphides. As and Sb contents of zoned pyrites are in the range of 3 wt.% As and 0. 1 to 0. 3 wt.% Sb. The ore zone provenance of elastic sulphides provides evidence of sedimentary reworking of the deposit.
A low metamorphic peak and heterogeneous deformation have resulted in the preservation of a large volume of primary depositional textures. A sphalerite-galena footwall vein system and abundant silicification of footwall rhyolites suggests a proximal autochthonous classification
