Abstract
The technological revolution is dramatically transforming all aspects of our cities,
regions and towns. Industrial development is no exception to this statement. The
traditional role of industrial parks i n the urban context must be adapted to meet the
unfolding needs of our information age. Using the example of Fredericton, this thesis w i l l
explore the evolution from conventional industrial parks to today's technology parks. A
review of an implementation plan for a proposed technology park i n Fredericton w i ll
cover all planning related issues including feasibility, infrastructure and costs.
Administration of technology parks and the status of technology-related park
developments i n New Brunswick w i l l also be considered.
Primary resources of the traditional industrial park have evolved to the human
resources needed i n an information-based economy. Technology parks exploit this by
their very nature. They are the planned development projects of the next millennium.
