Abstract
A cleaning (precommercial thinning) program is evaluated. Growth responses along with other biological factors were analyzed. Also, conventional economic analysis was performed to determine the financial attractiveness of the treatment.
The climatic conditions and tree species found in the Maritime provinces combine to result in significant biological responses after a natural stand is cleaned. Additionally, a marginal return on the investment of the treatment is attainable.
