This thesis studies the effects of two sources of recycled High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) plastic, Kelly Drum (KD) and Soleno Pellets (SP), on a Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA). Similar plastics have been studied in the asphalt field, but only in warmer climate areas, and so there is a need to analyze the effects in the climatic area of New Brunswick. The purpose is to see if these plastics can improve moisture and rutting resistance. Two mixesusing plastic as partial replacement of aggregates in a proportion of 5% by volume were created and compared to the Control mix (CM). The plastic allowed for a reduction of 0.5% binder requirement. Results showed that with no anti-stripping agent, the plastics had acceptable moisture resistance. Both plastics showcased superior rutting resistance. SP had better thermal cracking resistance, and CM had better fatigue resistance. SP had inadequate crack resistance at 25°C. Further study in the field is suggested
